About Africa's Greatest Bakers (AGB)

Born from a deep appreciation for the craft of baking and its power to transform lives, AGB exists to shine a spotlight on African baking talent, create meaningful opportunities, and build a connected, thriving baking ecosystem on the continent. Baking is more than a skill, it is a business, a livelihood, a heritage and a catalyst for economic growth.

VISION

To build a connected, innovative, and globally respected African baking industry where talent flourishes, businesses thrive, partnerships create lasting value, and excellence is celebrated across every stage of the baking value chain. Together, shaping a stronger and more prosperous future for African baking.

MISSION

To unite Africa's baking ecosystem by creating opportunities for collaboration, championing industry excellence, fostering professional growth, strengthening strategic partnerships, and driving sustainable development that empowers people, businesses, and communities across the continent.

OUR PROMISE

To remain a trusted platform that champions African baking by recognising excellence, advancing skills and opportunities, fostering lasting partnerships across the baking value chain, and supporting a more inclusive, innovative, and sustainable industry where every stakeholder has the opportunity to grow, succeed and contribute to a stronger future.

Who We Are

Africa’s Greatest Bakers is a pan-African industry platform that brings together stakeholders across the baking value chain. We convene bakers and bakeries, suppliers, distributors, manufacturers, baking academies, partners, government, and institutions to collaborate toward a stronger, more professional, and more sustainable African baking industry.

AGB recognises that baking is an interconnected value chain. From ingredient manufacturers and equipment suppliers, to distributors, educators, policymakers, and the bakers themselves. Every role matters in building a resilient and competitive industry!

AGB serves as a connector, facilitator, and recognition platform, supporting alignment and shared progress across the sector.

Our Story

Africa’s Greatest Bakers was founded in response to a clear gap across the continent:
talented bakers doing exceptional work with limited visibility, recognition, and access to opportunities.

AGB was created to change that narrative.

What began as a vision to celebrate bakers has evolved into a continent-wide movement that aligns multiple stakeholders across the baking ecosystem, working collectively to elevate standards, strengthen capacity, and support sustainable industry growth.
